ADD Counseling and Coaching
Unique Perspective
One of the unique perspectives that I bring to counseling folks with AD(H)D, is that I embrace the positive aspects of neurodiversity. While helping you organize and manage your life I simultaneously can help you see how your thinking and learning is a gift, and can be of great benefit to you. Complex Struggles Attention Deficit Disorder is complex and should be diagnosed by a professional using multifaceted assessments. I use parentheses to not exclude the "Hyperactive" element that is associated with some types of ADD. Executive functioning is the basis of where people with ADD struggle. While there isn’t solid evidence to explain why almost 10% of our population struggle with atypical executive function, we do know how to work with clients to improve outcomes when ADD symptoms disrupt our lives. The Anxiety Connection To add to the complexity of AD(H)D, Anxiety and AD(H)D go hand and hand. The good news is both are manageable with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and coaching. Peer and Professional I have the experience and education as a professional therapist, but I also have the perspective of a peer as I live with ADD and I am raising a child who has ADD. My hope is to help you manage your day-to-day life, guide you through the ups and downs, but also have the empathy and understanding that comes from experiencing some of what you may be going through as an adult (or a teen!) with ADD. |
I really LOVE this article about how we (as a society) shame neurodivergence. Check it out and tell me what you think!
