Under Layers of Societal Conditioning, Assumptions and Expectations
is You...
I specialize in guiding adults, teens and families through addressing the struggles that anxiety and ADD can create. I focus on helping them defeat the anxious voice and develop the gifts ADD can provide.
I have also worked with adults, adolescents, and families to address depression, anxiety, grief, family dysfunction and other unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. My approach to counseling is compassionate, trauma informed, strengths based, solution focused and eclectic. My techniques will vary based on the client and their needs. I will draw from a few techniques/theories such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family, and Systems theory. If you're experiencing strife trying to manage anxiety, ADD, grief, parenting, women's issues and what can be difficult life transitions and events, such as divorce, going away to or starting college, retirement, or relocation, etc. please reach out and let's discuss how I can help. |
I am an LGBTQ+ affirming, poly friendly therapist with a great appreciation, gratitude and respect for diversity in
our communities and our lives. |
After meeting with you online, if I feel that in-person therapy is a more appropriate option for you, I will do my best to refer and connect you to a suitable therapist in your area.
Be aware that at this time, in person therapy is extremely uncommon due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. |
About Become You
When brain storming business names, I had to consider the purpose of my business. Why did I want to offer counseling services? Ultimately, my passion is about helping people to realize their potential, to help people become their best selves, become who they've always felt they were meant to be (before societal expectations and life events stepped in). In addition, music has always played a role on my journey to become my best self, Become You is the title track to one of my favorite Indigo Girls records. And there is one lyric in the song that holds tremendous meaning to me as a Social Worker..."I won't stop short for common ground, that vilifies the trodden down" And I won't.

Why Indian Paint Brush? Honestly, at first I just liked the look of the flower as potential for a logo. When that became a possibility, I looked up the flower's meaning. I'm not one to put much stock in a flower actually transforming a person, but I like symbolism. To my astonishment everything I read reflected more of what I felt I was doing with clients...wayfinding, feeling confident & assured on our path, aiding in moving forward, revitilizing, reenergizing, healing, repelling fear, releasing negative feelings. It was perfect. So beautiful and native to the Northwest (and I loved it in my logo).
